The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Malam Shehu Mohammed, has called for stakeholders’ support in reducing road accidents in the country.

Mohammed who made the call while decorating the five new deputy corps marshals on Wednesday in Abuja, stressed the need for collective efforts to achieve a significant reduction in road accidents.

It was highlighted that the FRSC had implemented measures to reduce road accidents, but the support of stakeholders would be crucial to achieve the desired objective.

He said that the agency proposes more and new initiatives to reduce the massacres and deaths that accompany it throughout the country.

It is also clear that road safety must be a shared responsibility and that everyone must be available to control the threat.

“This effort requires the collaboration of all stakeholders. We need your support to reduce road accidents, save lives and property.

“We have intensified patrol operations, improved law enforcement and improved public information, but we need your support to reduce traffic accidents,” I say.

Mohammed, however, urged the new officers to redouble their efforts as the public expected a lot from them.

The marshal of the organization admonished them to provide decisive leadership to achieve effective management of trafficking in the country.

He assured them that the organization will continue working with international organizations to reduce road accidents.

Former FRSC Body Marshal Osita Chidoka also urges the new leadership of the body to reverse workforce development and avoid any ethnic bias.

Chidoka, who was also Minister of Aviation, highlighted the need to always reward serving officers for their highest performance.

Speaking on behalf of the decorated officers, the agency’s Deputy Marshal, Kingsley Agomoh, pledged not to let the country down.

Now I say that the leadership would achieve the best in road management across the country.

The Nigerian News Agency (NAN) reports that the event was attended by former Governor of Kaduna State and former Minister of Information, Mr. Mukhtar Yero. Frank Nweke Jnr., and family and friends of decorated senior officers.
