President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the appointment of Michael Hadi Ango as the Acting Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Revenue Service (FCT-IRS).

Mr. Ango brings to the position a wealth of experience, with over two decades of experience in revenue management, financial oversight and leadership in both the public and private sectors. Throughout his career, he has consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence and innovation in the areas of revenue generation and management.
Ango holds a Master of Laws degree from Columbia University School of Law, New York, awarded in 2019, and a Bachelor of Laws degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, awarded in 2002. He completed his legal training at the Nigerian Law School in 2003 and further developed his knowledge of the law. his experience in an executive education program in comparative tax policy and administration at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government in 2013.
His extensive professional career includes:
– **Partner and Director of Regulatory and Tax Advisory Services at Andersen LP**: A global tax services firm and successor to Arthur Andersen.
– **Head of Legal and Stakeholder Relations at NIRSAL PLC**: A subsidiary of the Central Bank of Nigeria, focused on risk sharing for agricultural lending.
– **Director of Policy and Public Affairs at Guinness Nigeria PLC**: Oversaw regulatory and public policy engagements.
– **Technical Advisor to the Executive Directorate of Federal Revenue**: Led a technical team that supported strategic initiatives.
– **Leading Analyst for Tax, Regulatory and People Services at KPMG Nigeria**: Provided comprehensive advisory services.
Mr. Ango has also played a significant role in several important committees, including:
– **Presidential Committee on Tax Policy and Reforms**.
– **Ethics Committee of the FIA (Federation Internationale de l’Automobile)**.
– **Tax Policy Reform Commission of the Federal Ministry of Finance**.
– **Committees of the Nigerian Bar Association**, including those on Finance, the Employment Bureau and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA) Task Force.
He is a recognized member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and the International Association of Privacy Professionals, among other professional bodies.
As Acting Chairman of the FCT-IRS, Mr. Ango is responsible for spearheading strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing revenue generation, promoting taxpayer compliance and improving the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the agency’s operations. His appointment comes at a crucial time as the FCT-IRS seeks to broaden its revenue base and ensure fiscal sustainability.
A native of Kebbi State, Mr. Michael Hadi Ango is married with two children.
