Mandate Secretary of the Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Lawan Kolo Geidam has urged youths to explore opportunities in agriculture for a better livelihood..
Geidam stated this when he was presented with the the “Icon of Hope” award from the Union executives of the Yobe State Uniiversity, Damaturu in his office.
Geidam encouraged the youths to reconsider their wrong perception of agriculture, highlighting its potential for financial stability and personal growth. He noted that taking agriculture seriously can yield substantial rewards, enabling individuals to support themselves, their families and the society at large.
“Agriculture offers numerous opportunities for self-reliance, financial stability and personal growth. Don’t look down on it; take it seriously and reap substantial rewards,” He said
He cautioned the youths against destructive habits, emphasizing in his words,
“Channel your energies towards nation-building, not illicit activities. Avoid drug abuse and misuse of computers and social media. Instead, harness technology for positive impact and contribute to Nigeria’s growth.”
He expressed gratitude to the students for the recognition and promised to continue empowering them to become the kind of future leaders Nigeria needs to unlock its potentials.
In his remarks, Comrade Muazu Yau, the Student Union President who led the executives presented the Award to the Mandate Secretary, praising his exceptional contributions, to the Society.
He highlighted some of the achievements of the union which includes successful campaign against drug abuse, provision of sanitary pads to underprivileged girls, and life-saving blood donations.
Describing Geidam as a role model, Yau explained that they traveled to Abuja to honor and encourage him to continue his remarkable work, recognizing his dedication to positively impacting lives and future generations.
