The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate demolition of illegal structures in Sabon Lugbe South District of the FCT.
The FCT Minister gave the order on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, in Abuja, when he made an unscheduled visit to the site of the illegal structures in Sabon Lugbe, accompanied by the heads of the various security agencies in the FCT.
Barr. Wike reiterated that the buildings were demolished without proper documents from the FCT administration and described the developers as land grabbers. He said the structures were built without the approval of the Development Control Department, which was against the land use regulations of the FCT.
He said: “It can be seen that they are all undocumented land grabbers and we will not allow it. »
The minister therefore asked the Director of the Development Control Department, Town Planner Mukhtar Galadima, to liaise with various security agencies to demolish the illegal structures and reclaim the land, adding that the security personnel will arrest anyone who hinders the demolition exercise.
