The Dr Yusuf John-Suberu Foundation, a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national and regional initiatives aimed at alleviating poverty in Nigeria.

The foundation’s general director, Dr. Yusuf Suberu, speaking at a business skills training course organized for youths and adolescents in Abuja on Thursday, highlighted the organisation’s commitment to combating poverty through sustainable programmes.

Suberu said the foundation envisions a world where people thrive and have resources and opportunities to shape their future.

The founder emphasized that the organization’s mission is to empower orphans, combat illiteracy and protect children, thereby reducing poverty and promoting national peace and stability.

However, he emphasized that the foundation focuses on sustainable programs, including job training and entrepreneurship plans.

Suberu also highlighted the importance of collective efforts to reduce poverty, adding that empowering communities requires collective action.

Suberu highlighted the Foundation’s impactful commitment to bringing innovative solutions and expertise to strengthen the efforts of governmental and non-governmental actors to solve pressing social problems.

He said: “Our initiatives focus on education, economic empowerment and health, among others.

“Empowering young people and vulnerable populations is critical to breaking the cycle of poverty in every country in the world. We recognize the devastating impact of poverty on individuals, communities and the nation as a whole.

“Our Foundation strives to contribute significantly to national and regional efforts to eradicate poverty in our beloved country, Nigeria.

“The foundation has implemented several initiatives, including job training, entrepreneurship programs and economic empowerment programs that benefited more than 5,000 people last year.

“Today we intend to teach different skills to 500 young people in the FCT and thus promote financial independence and self-employment.

“Our organization also seeks to bridge the gap between marginalized youth and the resources to drive transformative change,” he said.

The executive director said the foundation has been working with government agencies, international organizations and local stakeholders to increase its impact.

“Our organization mobilizes public and private sector stakeholders through targeted advocacy and inspires young people to volunteer their knowledge and energy to drive positive social change.

“The main objective of the foundation is to empower people in Nigeria and beyond, across geographic boundaries and nationalities, and we have already started and we will not stop,” he assured.

Suberu reiterated the Foundation’s unwavering focus and support in the fight against poverty in line with the national and regional development objectives of the 36 states and the FCT.

The youth and teenagers who participated in the training commended the foundation’s efforts and called for sustained efforts to address the challenges of poverty in Nigeria.
