The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Malam Shehu Mohammed, has approved the deployment of 1,500 personnel and 25 patrol vehicles for the Nov. 16 governorship election in Ondo State.
This revealed today in Abuja a statement issued by the Public Education Officer of the Body (CPEO), Olusegun Ogungbemide.
The FRSC chief said that the measure was part of the efforts to comply with movement restrictions and other electoral laws during the elections.
Ordered officers and men of the Corps who worked with other security agencies to ensure compliance with restrictions on vehicle movement.
Added that the directive also requires personnel to eliminate obstacles on roads, carry out rescue operations in case of emergency and maintain order in electoral schools.
“An adequate movement of personnel and operational resources was also carried out, including the deployment of 25 patrols, 7 cranes and 6 ambulances.
“It will also strengthen the application of restrictions throughout the electoral process”, I say.
Mohammed highlighted the need for the personal to demonstrate professionalism, but he urged them to avoid any action that could lead to a violation of the rights of voters.
