In the spirit of Ramadan, Hajiya Zainab Abubakar Ibrahim, Deputy National Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Chairperson of the Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe, has hosted an Iftar event for APC women and other stakeholders.
The event, held on Wednesday at A-Class Park in Maitama brought together women from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), politicians, political appointees, and leaders of various support groups, showcasing Hajiya Zainab’s commitment to fostering unity and supporting women’s involvement in politics.
In her remarks, Hajiya Zainab, affectionately known as “Aunty Zee,” expressed her gratitude to all APC women and emphasized the significance of unity and sisterhood during Ramadan.
Prominent attendees included Hon. Dr. Asabe Vilita, Director-General of the Maryam Babangida Women Center; Hon. Dayo Israel, National Youth Leader of the APC; and Hon. Oyin, FCT Women Leader.
Others were Hon. Mary Ikoku, Jekadia Alkalai Nupe, Hon. Rabi Garba, Journalists and other stakeholders.
A respected Mallam in the Community delivered a sermon on the rewards of fasting, highlighting the hadith: “Whoever gives iftaar to a fasting person will have a reward like his, without that detracting from the reward of the fasting person in the slightest”.
Hon. Dr. Asabe Vilita, in her remarks, spoke on the importance of sisterhood and the collective celebration of Iftar, reinforcing the bonds among the women present.
Hajiya Zainab Abubakar Ibrahim, who hails from the prestigious Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim political dynasty in Taraba State was honored with an award by the Northern Women Guild of Actresses for her efforts to uplift women, reflecting her dedication to women’s empowerment and her influential role within the APC and beyond.
The event concluded with the presentation of gifts to women, symbolizing generosity and community bonding in the spirit of Ramadan.
