President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has applauded FCT Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, for his dedication to bringing quality infrastructure and inclusive development to communities long neglected within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Speaking on Monday, June 30, 2025, during the commissioning of newly completed access roads to Giri District, President Tinubu—represented by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas commended Wike for fully aligning with and localizing the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“What we are commissioning today is not just a road—it is a symbol of progress and purpose. Minister Wike has turned vision into reality, reaching into districts often forgotten and placing development at the people’s doorstep,” the President stated.
He praised the Minister’s leadership across the FCT—from city districts like Maitama, Katampe, and Mabushi to satellite towns such as Gwagwalada, Kwali, and Kuje, and now Giri—underscoring that every Nigerian deserves the dividends of good governance.
“Your quiet diligence, Hon. Minister, is lighting up the FCT. Roads like this bring more than asphalt—they bring dignity, connection, and renewed faith in government,” he added.
President Tinubu noted that the roads into Giri are more than physical structures—they’re part of a national intention to expand opportunities, reduce marginalization, and attract investments to rural and peri-urban areas.
“No district is too remote, and no citizen is too small to benefit from democracy. These roads prove it,” the President emphasized, expressing pride in the milestone and pledging more infrastructure nationwide.
In his remarks, FCT Minister Barr. Wike described Giri as a district with high potential, but previously limited by lack of infrastructure. He noted that with the completion of access roads, Giri is now primed for large-scale institutional development.

He revealed that the access has cleared the way for the immediate takeoff of projects like the EFCC Academy, with more institutions set to follow.
“Without roads, land stays unused, and communities remain stuck. With roads, everything changes. This district will soon become a hub for universities, academies, and development,” Wike said.
Wike also addressed land management in the area, citing concerns over **unapproved land acquisition by the University of Abuja**. He disclosed that **4,000 hectares** would be officially allocated to the university, while the remaining land would be opened up for structured development.
The era of grabbing land without documentation is over. We are creating order through infrastructure,” he affirmed.
EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede, represented by the Commission’s Secretary, Muhammad HammaJoda, thanked President Tinubu, Minister Wike, and the National Assembly for ensuring the road to the EFCC Academy was finally constructed.
He said the lack of access was the main barrier to progress and that with the road now complete, the institution can advance with its development plans.
“Once operational, the EFCC Academy will help sustain the fight against corruption through professional training” he stated.
Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, in her vote of thanks, lauded President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stating that it had transformed not just the capital, but the nation. She also praised Wike’s commitment to executing every project with speed and vision.

She extended appreciation to the National Assembly, whose support she described as instrumental to the administration’s success.
Executive Secretary of FCDA, Engr. Richard Yunana Dauda, explained that Giri District was planned as an institutional zone, already hosting the University of Abuja and the EFCC Academy. The new access roads now link Giri to the Airport Expressway through Bill Clinton Drive, improving security, mobility, and socioeconomic life in the area.
