The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced plans to roll out an enhanced and upgraded digital system for the processing of driver’s licences and vehicle number plates before the end of this month. The new platform aims to strengthen efficiency, transparency, and speed of service delivery across all states of the federation.
The FRSC Corps Marshal, Malam Shehu Mohammed, made this known on Tuesday in Abuja during the 2025 Customer Service Week celebration. The event was attended by FRSC officials, stakeholders in the transport sector, and representatives from partner agencies.
Mohammed explained that the upgraded system would significantly reduce waiting time for applicants, promote data integrity, and ensure that the issuance process for driver’s licences and number plates becomes more seamless and reliable.
According to him, the new platform is part of the Corps’ broader effort to modernize its operations through technology, as well as enhance service delivery to Nigerians.
“We are introducing a new, technology-driven system that will ensure quicker processing, accurate data management, and improved customer satisfaction. This upgrade represents another major step toward building a safer and more efficient road transport system in Nigeria,” the Corps Marshal said.
He added that the FRSC remains deeply committed to strengthening road safety administration nationwide, and that the trust and cooperation of citizens remain vital to the Corps’ success.
“For every challenge we overcome and every milestone we achieve, our customers play a major role. Their loyalty and patience motivate us to keep improving,” Mohammed said.
Addressing concerns raised by motorists and vehicle owners, Mohammed acknowledged the delays and technical difficulties that applicants have faced in recent months when processing driver’s licences and vehicle number plates.
He assured Nigerians that the FRSC leadership has taken deliberate steps to address those challenges through system upgrades, enhanced infrastructure, and better staff training.
“We are aware of the difficulties experienced by applicants over a period of time. On behalf of the Corps, I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. I want to assure Nigerians that we are upscaling and upgrading the entire system, and before the end of this month, we will officially launch an improved platform that guarantees efficiency,” he stated.
The Corps Marshal emphasized that the upcoming upgrade will not only improve service delivery but also help in reducing fraud, curbing fake licences, and enhancing national data accuracy for vehicle owners and drivers.
Mohammed also used the occasion to reaffirm FRSC’s commitment to public safety through continuous advocacy, effective legislation, and strong policy enforcement.
He noted that road safety remains a shared responsibility, urging motorists and all road users to strictly obey traffic laws to prevent accidents and loss of lives.
“We appeal to all our road users to continue to abide by traffic rules and regulations. When we say ‘safety first,’ we mean it should be a lifestyle — safety first, safety always, and safety forever,” he said.
He further explained that the Customer Service Week was an important opportunity to appreciate both the public and FRSC personnel for their hard work, patience, and cooperation in promoting safer roads across Nigeria.
“This celebration is about recognizing everyone who contributes to our success — from our officers on the road to our customers who trust our services. Together, we can make Nigeria’s roads safer for all,” Mohammed added.
