The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has congratulated Christians in Abuja on the successful completion of the Lenten season and extended Easter greetings to all residents, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to security and infrastructure development, April 3, 2026. He said the season reflects renewed hope and unity, aligning with ongoing efforts to promote peace and progress across the territory.
In an Easter message, Wike described the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ as a symbol of new beginnings and spiritual renewal. He urged Christians and other residents to reflect on the teachings of Christ and embrace values that promote national unity and collective responsibility.
“The Easter season offers an opportunity to reflect on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ and to embrace new beginnings and renewed hope,” Wike said. He called on residents, particularly the Christian faithful, to recommit themselves to service, love and dedication to the nation.
The minister emphasized the importance of fostering harmony within communities, encouraging residents to demonstrate compassion, kindness and mutual respect during the festive period. He added that these values are essential to building a peaceful and inclusive society.
“As we celebrate, we must remember the virtues of love, compassion and kindness that Easter represents,” he said. “We should continue working together to build a community where everyone can live in peace and prosperity.”
Wike also offered prayers for residents, expressing hope that the joy of Easter would bring happiness to homes across the FCT. He encouraged people to extend goodwill to one another and support those in need during the celebrations.
On security, the minister assured residents that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure a safe and peaceful Easter. He said the FCT Administration has strengthened coordination with security agencies to prevent disruptions and protect lives and property throughout the holiday period.
“I want to assure residents that comprehensive security arrangements are in place to guarantee a hitch-free celebration,” Wike said. “Our priority is to ensure that everyone can celebrate with family, friends and loved ones in a secure environment.”
Beyond the festivities, Wike highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects across Abuja and surrounding satellite towns, linking them to the broader development goals of the federal government. He credited the progress to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said is driving significant transformation in the FCT.
The minister noted that road construction, urban development and public service improvements are part of efforts to enhance the quality of life for residents. He added that the administration remains focused on sustaining development momentum while addressing the needs of both urban and rural communities.
