The Yusuf John-Suberu Foundation has commended the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for his outstanding leadership and transformative initiatives that have significantly improved the security, infrastructure, and overall quality of life in Abuja.
This was stated by the Executive Director of the Foundation, Professor Yusuf Suberu, at a press conference and dinner in Abuja on Wednesday.
Suberu commended Wike as a key asset and key contributor to the success of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
He said Wike had received national accolades from Nigerians for his hard work and commitment.
This, he said, led, among other things, to the successful completion of several FCT road projects in his first year as minister.
Suberu said Wike has brought about a sea change in the infrastructure of the FCT as large-scale road construction and rehabilitation projects are being carried out in almost all districts.
“The massive infrastructure development in the FCT includes several important projects such as the construction of new parks and the relocation of commercial land to more suitable areas.
“Another reason is the much-awaited launch of Abuja’s light rail services, which is expected to revolutionize transportation in the city.
“Thanks to the unwavering determination of Wike, former Rivers governor and current FCT minister, Abuja is transforming from a hotbed of criminal activities into an oasis of peace and security.
“Wike’s leadership was instrumental in driving this positive change and making the nation’s capital a safer place for residents and visitors,” he emphasized.
The NGO boss commended President Tinubu for prioritizing competence over politics when he appointed Wike to head the FCT Ministry, recognizing Wike’s ability to drive meaningful change.
He said: “President Tinubu broke with convention by choosing a minister who is not from his own party, thereby demonstrating his commitment to prioritizing competence and experience over political affiliation.”
“This decision was beneficial to Nigeria and we are happy with the outcome.
“Wike has managed to restore our faith in the national capital and his extraordinary efforts are truly commendable.
“We are very proud of Wike’s achievements and we sincerely thank the President for the trust placed in him and for entrusting him with the position of Minister,” he said.
Suberu, however, promised to align his organization’s objectives with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, which aims to drive Nigeria’s transformation.
“We strongly support President Tinubu’s administration and its commitment to addressing Nigeria’s long-standing challenges, many of which were inherited from previous administrations.
