The Initiative Against Kidnapping, Human Trafficking, Child Abuse and Drug Abuse (AKH-TRACADA), an NGO, has commended the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for enacting eleven key bills that They will take the state to the next level of governance.
A statement by the organisation’s founder, Belonwu Ezeanyaeche, on Wednesday in Abuja said the bill would also harness the much-needed dividends of democracy in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the recently signed laws include: Anambra State Electoral Act, 2024, Anambra State Prohibition of Disclosure Act, 2024, Prohibition of Secret Cults and Similar Activities Act , 2024,
Also included are the Health Facilities and Accreditation Agency Act 2024, Anambra State Peacebuilding and Conflict Management Agency, the State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission Act of Anambra (ANSOGPADEC) Act 2024 and the Market Security Act 2024.
Others include: the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons Act 2024, the Anambra State Revenue Administration Consolidation and Harmonization Act 2024 and the Anambra State Private Nursing and Midwifery Colleges Act 2024.
Also, the bill to amend the Anambra State House of Assembly Service Commission Act, 2021 and for other related purposes.
Ezeanyaeche said the group was particularly pleased with the signing of the Anambra State Peacebuilding and Conflict Management Agency (ANSPEBCOMA) Act.
This, he said, was in the hall of the Anambra State House of Assembly by the Deputy Majority Leader, Dr. Jude Akpua has been sponsored.
He said the project aims to promote peace and manage conflicts within the state and create a harmonious environment for its residents.
He also said this was in line with the governor’s broader agenda on infrastructure, economic transformation, security and social cohesion.
Ezeanyaeche believed that the bill would reduce illegal substances, illegal drug abuse and crimes against humanity in the state.
According to him, the project will cover many topics. The goal of our organization is to protect people and save youth and children from drug problems and other crimes.
“We believe that, if passed, this law will cover all aspects of human life,” he said.
Ezeanyaeche believed that the bill would significantly improve the group’s organizational capacity to curb the menace of drug abuse and illicit trafficking in the country.
He also added that this would underline the need to allocate more resources to combat the drug problem and its consequences.
These include banditry, kidnapping, murder, insurgency, terrorism, human trafficking, child abuse and general insecurity.
He said: “We are very proud of our legislators for the excellent implementation of this bill, as well as the Speaker and all the honorable members of the State Assembly.”
“We are much more grateful to Governor Soludo for making it a legal entity to fill the huge gap and address the problems that concern peacebuilding programs and activities.”
“Also, manage, prevent and resolve conflicts and related issues in the state, which would greatly help the state government in achieving a peaceful, habitable and prosperous homeland for all.”
“We are very happy that this bill has finally seen the light of day,” he said.
Ezeanyaeche called on Anambra residents to put aside their differences, unite and support the Soludo administration to achieve greater success with Almighty God as his helper.
