Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Malam Shehu Mohammed, have teamed up to strengthen vehicle security in the state.
During a meeting at the Government House in Marina, Lagos, they agreed to collaborate on motor vehicle administration, focusing on eliminating fake number plates and enhancing revenue collection and data accuracy.
Speaking, the FRSC boss said the partnership was aimed at strengthening intelligence gathering and national security, thereby ensuring a more secure Lagos.
Mohammed commended the governor for his support and capacity building of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), which he said had boosted the fight against road-related problems.
“This collaboration promises to significantly reduce the incidence of fake number plates and promote a safer and more secure environment in Lagos State.
“This joint effort will also help revolutionize vehicle safety in Lagos, making the state a model for others to follow.
“The partnership promises to restore the health of Lagos roads and ensure a safer and more secure environment for citizens,” he said.
In response, Sanwo-Olu said that “with this positive development, a commendable outcome will certainly be achieved in the area of intelligence gathering and strengthening national security.
In the same vein, Ogun State Governor, Adedapo Abiodun, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting the FRSC in its efforts to ensure road safety in the state.
Abiodun made the promise during a visit by FRSC Corps Marshal, Malam Shehu Mohammed, to government headquarters in Abeokuta.
The governor commended the Corps’ efforts in reducing road accidents and thanked them for their dedication in saving lives.
Earlier, Mohammed commended Abiodun for his commitment to safety and sought collaboration to improve road safety in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the visits highlight the commitment of the three parties to promote a collaborative approach to resolving critical issues and promoting public safety.
The visit also strengthens the partnership between the state government and FRSC, to reduceensurecidents and ensuring safer roads in Lagos and Ogun State respectively.
