The FCT Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has reiterated the commitment of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration to the development of the people of the FCT.
A statement by the Director Press, Anthony Ogunleye Office of the FCT Minister stated this on Tuesday, January 21, 2025  at the commissioning of the Yangoji Sukuku Ebbo road in Kwali Area Council of the FCT.

The Minister said that the road project being commissioned was a promise made and fulfilled by President Tinubu, the Minister also assured that the promise to provide the council with additional police divisions would soon be fulfilled, as the structures were under construction.

Responding to a request by the Kwali Area Council
chairman  Hon. Danladi Chiya for the construction of the Ebbo bridge, linking Kwali and Kuje Area Councils, Barr. Wike announced that it would be constructed.

Addressing the Kwali Council Chairman, the Minister said, “Mr ALGON chairman, because you have led your people well, because your have supported this administration, because your people are happy with you, let me tell you that that bridge will be done…Mr President has said that anything you want you should ask me, he will do it for you”.

The Minister commended the contractor, Gilmor Construction Company for the good job they have done, especially, the added renovation of the community’s Primary school as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, urging other companies to emulate Gilmor.

In his address, the Kwali Area Council chairman, Hon. Chiya, thanked the Minister for the road, which he said would further open up the council and bring prosperity to the people.

The visibly excited Chiya said that for the first time, the council enjoyed peace during the yuletide season as there was no case of kidnapping, which he attributed to the construction of the road.

P0Hon. Chiya appealed to the Minister to also construct the Ebbo bridge linking Kwali Area Council, Kuje Area Council, and other communities. This, he said will ensure the free flow of farm produce from Kwali to other parts of the FCT.

In her address the Minister of State FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, said, “As I stated during the flag-off of this project, the lack of proper road infrastructure has hindered the progress of our rural communities. Farmers have struggled to transport their produce to markets, students have faced difficulties reaching schools, and medical emergencies have been compounded by the challenges of accessing timely healthcare”.

She said the 11km road may seem like a modest undertaking, but its impact will be far-reaching, as the road will enhance connectivity, reduce the challenges of insecurity, and open up opportunities for trade and commerce.

Dr. Mariya added that the road will also improve access to education and healthcare, empowering the rural population to lead healthier and more prosperous lives.

In his welcome address, the Coordinator,  Satellite Town Development Department, Hon. Zulkiflu Abdulkadir expressed gratitude to the FCT Minister for ensuring infrastructural development in the satellite towns, adding that the project reflects the dedication of the FCT Administration to bridging gaps in infrastructure and ensuring that no community is left behind.
