President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised the unwavering dedication and excellence demonstrated by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, in the performance of his duties.
The commendation came on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, during the official commissioning of the newly completed Mabushi Bus and Taxi Terminal—an initiative aimed at modernizing urban transportation within the FCT.
In a message delivered on his behalf by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, President Tinubu highlighted the terminal as a testament to the Federal Government’s commitment to enhancing safety, mobility, and the overall wellbeing of Abuja residents.
“I want to particularly acknowledge Minister Wike for his vision and tireless work ethic. His efforts have played a critical role in the swift and high-quality execution of this project. The FCT is clearly on a path toward world-class infrastructure,” the President stated.
He described the terminal as a practical response to the needs of the public, underscoring its role in fostering secure and dignified travel across the city. He encouraged Abuja residents to fully utilize the facility, noting that it will improve orderliness and help curb incidents such as the notorious “one chance” vehicle robberies.
“With this terminal, commuters will no longer be vulnerable to random, unsafe pick-up points. They will board from a secure, well-regulated location with verified drivers and vehicles,” he said.
In his remarks, Minister Wike expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his continued support of the FCT Administration and his consistent presence at key milestones.
He emphasized that the introduction of structured transport terminals would not only phase out unauthorized roadside motor parks but also significantly improve the security landscape of the capital.

Wike also revealed plans to replicate similar terminals in Gwagwalada, Bwari, and Kuje Area Councils, in a bid to enhance connectivity between the main city and satellite towns. He added that these facilities would be managed by the private sector to ensure efficiency and sustainability.
Minister of Transport, Senator Sa’idu Ahmed Alkali, in his goodwill message, appreciated the President’s backing of the transportation sector and praised the FCT Minister for his proactive approach. He expressed confidence that the terminal would uplift public transport standards and stimulate economic growth within the FCT.
He assured continued collaboration between the Ministry of Transport and the FCT Administration to support and expand such initiatives.
Delivering the vote of thanks, Minister of State for FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, applauded President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting its positive impact through people-focused projects. She also acknowledged Minister Wike for accelerating infrastructure delivery in the FCT.
She emphasized that the new terminal would help decongest traffic, serve as a symbol of progressive governance, and create employment for local residents.

Providing technical insights, the Mandate Secretary of the FCTA Transportation Secretariat, Hon. Chinedum Elechi, said the ultra-modern terminal features a one-storey structure serving both intra-city and inter-city travelers. The terminal is equipped with amenities including food courts, cinemas, restrooms, a nursing room, escalators, ATM points, CCTV surveillance, and more.
Elechi further noted that the terminal will operate round-the-clock with an independent power source and consistent water supply for hygiene and safety. A dedicated bus lane has also been constructed from Sani Abacha Way into the terminal to ensure smooth traffic flow.
