Mr Raymond Edoh, an aspirant for the 2027 Benue governorship election under the Action Democratic Congress (ADC), says the party’s leadership has reignited confidence among young aspirants.
Edoh formally unveiled his ambition and policy blueprint at a news conference held in Abuja.
He described ADC as the most stable political platform in Nigeria expressing optimism it is positioned to assume national leadership in 2027.
He said that his aspiration was because the Benue state could not afford another cycle of unfulfilled promises stressing that farmers’ youths and communities deserved protection opportunity and transparent governance
According to him, Benue stands at a defining moment requiring urgent transformation across key sectors.
“Today marks a defining moment in the journey toward a new Benue.
“I stand before you not just as a candidate but as a servant-leader driven by purpose, conviction, and an unwavering belief in the greatness of our people.
“The current internal developments within the party are normal challenges that would ultimately strengthen its structures ahead of future elections.
“I am confident in the party’s direction, and my political experience and exposure both locally and internationally and other key electoral strategies will guide my aspirations,” he said.
Edoh referenced the need for practical political engagement in Nigeria’s electoral system, saying winning elections required more than manifestos but also strategic ground mobilisation.
He expressed optimism ADC’s evolving strategy would position it to overcome electoral challenges and secure victory in 2027.
He lamented that Benue remained rich in human and natural resources as the Food Basket of the Nation but faces insecurity, weak infrastructure, and gaps in education and healthcare.
Edoh said his vision was to build a prosperous, secured, and empowered Benue anchored on innovation accountability and sustainable development.
He disclosed some of his key priorities, including security reform through community policing and technology, agricultural mechanisation, education reform, healthcare, expansion infrastructure renewal, youth empowerment, and environmental sustainability.
According to him, his administration would pursue the digitisation of governance performance-based leadership and citizen engagement platforms to enhance transparency and accountability.
He also highlighted prioritising security, agriculture, and education in its first year, followed by healthcare infrastructure and youth empowerment from 2027–2030.
He called on citizens across all divides to support a movement for transformation promising inclusive governance and sustainable development.
“To the people of Benue State, the time has come to choose progress over politics as usual competence over connections and unity over division,” he said.
