President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised the newly constructed Arterial Road N20 Interchange (Wole Soyinka Way over the Murtala Mohammed Expressway) as an outstanding feat of engineering. He credited the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, for his exemplary leadership in delivering the project.
Speaking at the official commissioning on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, the President—represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio—said the infrastructure reflects the federal government’s strong commitment to national progress.
“This interchange stands as a remarkable symbol of development and a shared desire to build a better, more efficient capital city,” Tinubu noted. “It is a response to urbanization challenges—especially traffic congestion—and proof of our resolve to improve lives and ensure safer, more seamless mobility across the FCT.”
He stressed that the project aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at enhancing nationwide connectivity, stimulating growth, and improving access to opportunities.
Commending the FCTA’s effort, Tinubu said, “I applaud the vision and relentless efforts of the FCT Minister, Barrister Wike, and his team. The transformation of Abuja through such projects showcases our capacity to deliver when guided by strong leadership and purpose.”
Delivering his remarks, Barrister Nyesom Wike expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his support and presence during multiple commissioning ceremonies held to mark the President’s second year in office.
He said, “Out of 17 days of commissioning, Mr. President attended 10 personally, and his presence has energized our commitment to service delivery.”
Wike noted that close monitoring and transparency were key to the timely execution of the project. “These projects were closely tracked day and night to guarantee quality and efficiency,” he added.
The FCT Minister reaffirmed that the ongoing development reflects President Tinubu’s decisive leadership and the administration’s focus on meeting people’s real needs. “From roads and bridges to schools and hospitals, we are witnessing the practical outcomes of focused leadership,” he said.
He emphasized that beyond infrastructure, the goal is to restore public confidence and ensure government projects are people-oriented. “We are not just building roads; we’re restoring trust in governance,” Wike added.
In her comments, Minister of State for FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, extended her appreciation to President Tinubu for his steadfast investment in infrastructure and thanked Minister Wike for his commitment to transforming the capital city.
