President Tinubu Celebrates Former Vice President Namadi Sambo at 71, Praises His Legacy of Loyalty and Service
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended heartfelt birthday wishes to former Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo as he marks his 71st birthday today, August 2, 2025.
In a message shared by the presidency, President Tinubu described the elder statesman as a man of loyalty, integrity, and strong commitment to Nigeria’s unity and progress.
Namadi Sambo, a renowned architect and public servant, previously served as Governor of Kaduna State from 2007 to 2010 before being appointed Vice President under the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan. His tenure was marked by a collaborative leadership style and a deep commitment to national development.
President Tinubu acknowledged Sambo’s long-standing influence as a respected figure in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and commended his unwavering statesmanship even after leaving office. He also praised Sambo’s continued contributions to peacebuilding and religious harmony in Kaduna State, particularly his support for Governor Uba Sani’s administration.
Beyond Nigeria’s borders, the former vice president has played notable roles on the international stage. He led the ECOWAS Election Observation Mission to Ghana’s 2024 presidential election, as well as similar missions in Niger Republic in 2020 and 2021 — reinforcing his stature as a respected diplomat and regional leader.
President Tinubu concluded his message by wishing Sambo “many more years in good health and fruitful service to Nigeria and the African continent.
