Field Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Malam Shehu Mohammed, urged the newly promoted senior officers to renew their commitment and work tirelessly to reduce road accidents and fulfill the Corps’ mission: saving lives.
Malam Shehu Mohammed presented the medal on Thursday in Abuja during the Senior Officers’ Award Ceremony at the FRSC headquarters.
He congratulated the newly promoted officers and encouraged them to continue demonstrating unwavering commitment and loyalty to the FRSC’s mission.
He reminded them that the Corps’ ultimate goal is to become the best road safety organization in the world, focusing on reducing road accidents and saving lives.
We congratulate, thank, and encourage you to redouble your efforts, collaborate more closely, and communicate more directly with the FRSC.
“The last thing I want to do is reduce car accidents to save lives. Everything we can do to achieve this is our fundamental mandate, our goal, and our mission,” he declared.
The FRSC Corps Marshal warned that doing anything less would neglect the Corps’ essential functions.
“I urge you to demonstrate greater commitment and focus so that we can fulfill this mandate, reduce accidents, deaths, and injuries, and improve the lives of all Nigerians,” he added.
Mohamed also thanked Representative Olaide Mohammed, Member of the House of Representatives, for his presence and unwavering support for the FRSC.
In his speech, Representative Olaide Mohammed, Member of the National Assembly, described himself as a longtime ambassador for the FRSC.
Mohamed pledged his unwavering support for the FRSC’s reforms in the National Assembly.
He noted that he was the first parliamentarian to openly align himself with the Corps and that he received half the votes. However, he expressed optimism about the upcoming appointment of new retired FRSC officers to parliamentary positions. “I’m sure we’ll have more than two or three in the next elections. We’re already discussing that,” he added.
The parliamentarian praised the leadership of the National Assembly, under President Abbas Tajudeen, for prioritizing road safety and promised additional legislative support, including the recently passed Road Safety Reform Bill.
Mohammed also encouraged members to reflect on the legacy they would leave for the Corps of Engineers and reminded them of the vitality of their work.
“God has given you what you desire; you must be more dedicated. Promotions involve responsibility and hard work.”
“Road safety is different from other organizations because we deal with modern life.” “Every mistake made here puts people’s lives in danger,” he stated.
On behalf of the promoted officer, Mr. Adewale Ameen commended the FRSC for providing equal opportunities to all qualified candidates during the promotion examination.
However, Mr. Ameen pledged that officers would redouble their efforts to elevate the Corps of Engineers to the highest standard.
“We will maintain our focus, dedication, and professionalism in the performance of our duties to create a safer road environment for all Nigerians.”
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Permanent Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, approved the promotion of 51 new Corps Commanders and 49 Deputy Corps Commanders.
