The Committee of Youth on Mobilisation and Sensitisation (CYMS) has praised the Head of the Federal Civil Service, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, for a remarkable first year in office marked by impactful reforms and purposeful leadership.

The commendation was made in Abuja when a delegation from CYMS, led by its Director-General, Chief Obinna Nwaka, paid a courtesy visit to celebrate her first anniversary as Head of Service.

The delegation included Hajia Baiyee Aisha, Director of Finance; Hon. Kelechi Ugwumba, Director of Contacts and Mobilisation; Dr. Umma Adamu, Director of Gender and Humanitarian Affairs; Ms. Amarah Joseph; and Engr. Kenneth Omeiza.

Chief Nwaka described Walson-Jack’s first year as one of reform-driven service, applauding her contributions to strengthening Nigeria’s civil service. He thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for entrusting her with what he called “a strategic and well-deserved position.”

He noted that her leadership had not only advanced reforms but also inspired many young Nigerians, particularly women. “She is a mother, a role model to the girl child, and a passionate supporter of youth development. Her humility and open-door leadership style are worthy of emulation,” Nwaka said.

Highlighting the role of CYMS, he explained that the group is recognised by the Presidency as a body that evaluates, sensitises, and mobilises citizens in support of government programmes. Its core responsibilities, he added, include promoting good governance, empowering young people, and fostering peaceful coexistence.

“We are here today to celebrate your milestone and to wish you even greater success in the years ahead,” he said.

As part of the commemoration, the CYMS delegation joined activities marking Walson-Jack’s anniversary, themed “A Year of Purposeful Service.” Events included a symbolic “Thank You Tour” across ministries and departments at the Federal Secretariat, as well as a free medical outreach for workers within the complex.

In her remarks, Mrs. Walson-Jack reflected on the progress achieved since her appointment. She highlighted the ongoing implementation of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021–2025 (FCSSIP 25), which is designed to strengthen efficiency, accountability, and service delivery in the public sector.

According to her, the reforms align with the government’s EPIC vision—Efficient, Productive, Incorruptible, and Citizen-Centred service.

The Head of Service expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his trust and to all civil service stakeholders for their collaboration and support. She also acknowledged her family and well-wishers for their encouragement throughout the year.

“As we move into a new chapter, I call on all civil servants to remain committed. Let us build legacies that outlive us, working not for personal gain, but for the pride of future generations,” she said.

She pledged to continue leading with fairness, humility, and dedication, ensuring that Nigeria’s civil service remains a foundation for good governance and national progress.
