The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, has officially inaugurated the construction of critical access roads in Karsana District, Abuja. The project is designed to serve the Renewed Hope City and several housing estates within the area, reinforcing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the administration’s commitment to modern urban development.
The flag-off ceremony, held on Friday, September 26, 2025, marked a significant milestone in efforts to provide essential infrastructure for residential and commercial growth in the FCT.
In his remarks, the Minister described the project as proof of the Tinubu administration’s promise to deliver quality infrastructure to support housing and economic activities in Abuja. He stressed that road infrastructure remains the foundation of any modern city, providing a springboard for hospitals, schools, and other critical facilities.
“What we cannot deny,” Wike noted, “is that no city qualifies as a city without a functional road network. Good roads must come first before other facilities can make sense. You cannot build hospitals, schools, or even attract investors in areas without road access. That is why we are making road construction our first priority here.”
He assured the residents of Karsana District that the FCT Administration is committed to making funds available to guarantee the project’s timely completion. The Minister expressed optimism that the project would be delivered in time for inauguration during President Tinubu’s third anniversary in office.
Wike praised Messrs Lubrik Construction Company Nigeria Ltd., the firm handling the project, for demonstrating trust in the FCT Administration by mobilizing to the site before receiving initial payments. He described this action as a show of confidence in the government and urged the company to maintain its promise to deliver a quality road network within schedule.
“Let me assure Karsana residents that we are working closely with the contractors,” he said. “The FCT Administration will release funds as required, and we expect the contractors to deliver a top-class project within the stipulated timeframe.”
In her vote of thanks, the Acting Head of the FCT Civil Service, Nancy Sabanti Nathan, applauded President Tinubu for prioritizing Abuja’s development through the Renewed Hope Agenda. She further commended Wike’s leadership, noting that his drive and vision are transforming the FCT into a model city.
She highlighted that the road construction would not only ease traffic congestion in Karsana but also create a vital link to other districts of Abuja, thereby spurring commercial activity and boosting property development.
Providing further details, the Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Richard Yunana Dauda, explained that the road network will connect Karsana West through the Outer Northern Expressway (Murtala Mohammed Expressway) to arterial road N40, and onward to arterial road N11 (Ahmadu Bello Way).
According to him, the Federal Executive Council awarded the contract in March 2025 with a completion timeline of 18 months. The project will deliver a 10.5-kilometer road network equipped with modern drainage systems, solar-powered street lighting, and other supporting infrastructure.
Engr. Dauda emphasized that the initiative would generate employment opportunities, improve security, reduce travel time, and open up Karsana District for accelerated urban development. He added that the project’s benefits extend beyond Renewed Hope City estates to the entire FCT, contributing significantly to Abuja’s long-term growth.
Speaking on behalf of Lubrik Construction Company, Technical Manager Engr. Anthony El-Khoury expressed gratitude to the FCT Administration for the trust placed in the company. He pledged that the project team would collaborate with stakeholders to deliver a world-class road network on time and within budget.
The Karsana road project reflects the broader vision of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes housing, infrastructure, and economic empowerment across the country. For residents of Karsana and neighboring districts, the initiative promises not just improved road access but also new opportunities for investment, commerce, and urban living.
As construction progresses, the FCT Administration has assured citizens that funding and oversight will remain consistent to ensure the project’s timely delivery and long-term sustainability.
