The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has expressed satisfaction with the progress made on several ongoing infrastructure projects in Abuja, including the Judges’ Quarters in Katampe District.
Wike made the remarks on Thursday, March 12, 2026, during a press conference after an inspection tour of major projects across the city. The projects inspected include the Judges’ Quarters in Katampe, the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal of Nigeria in Dakibiyu, Road CN2 linking Katampe and Gishiri, and sections of the Outer Southern Expressway.
The inspection exercise was part of the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s effort to ensure that contractors meet deadlines ahead of activities marking the third anniversary of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s office.
During the inspection, the minister expressed optimism about the progress made on the Judges’ Quarters project in Katampe District. The housing complex is designed to provide residential accommodation for senior judicial officers working in Abuja.
According to Wike, the project includes 10 duplexes allocated to the Federal High Court, 20 duplexes for the FCT High Court, and another 10 duplexes for judges of the Court of Appeal.
He explained that construction work on the buildings is already at an advanced stage, with some sections nearing completion. The part designated for judges of the Federal High Court is currently undergoing furnishing in preparation for occupancy.
The minister disclosed that the entire project is expected to be officially inaugurated during celebrations marking President Tinubu’s third year in office.
Wike also provided an update on the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal located in Dakibiyu. According to him, the contractor handling the project has assured the government that the facility will be completed and handed over by May 2026.
The new court complex is expected to strengthen judicial operations in the Federal Capital Territory by providing improved infrastructure for the administration of justice.
The minister noted that the construction of modern judicial facilities demonstrates the administration’s commitment to strengthening institutions and improving the working environment for members of the judiciary.
Apart from judicial infrastructure, Wike inspected several road projects currently under construction within Abuja. These include Road CN2 connecting Katampe and Gishiri, as well as key sections of the Outer S, southern Expressway (OSEX), which serves as an important transport corridor within the capital.
He commended the pace of work on the projects and expressed confidence that they would significantly improve mobility within the city once completed.

Wike also praised the construction firm China Geo-Engineering Corporation (CGC) for maintaining high standards and delivering projects according to schedule.
“I am very impressed with the work CGC is doing. They are a company that keeps its word and remains committed to designing quality projects,” he said.
The minister further acknowledged the role of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) for its effective supervision and monitoring activities. Responding to questions from journalists about his demanding schedule, particularly after completing a recent thank-you tour of the six area councils in the FCT, Wike said he remains fully committed to his responsibilities.
He explained that his motivation comes from the trust placed in him by President Tinubu to oversee development in the nation’s capital.
According to him, the President’s support and confidence in his leadership serve as strong motivation to continue working towards transforming Abuja through infrastructure development and improved public services.
“When the President entrusts you with such an important responsibility, you must remain committed to delivering results. The support we receive from Mr President motivates us to keep working for the people of the FCT,” Wike stated.
The minister also addressed recent political developments within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), expressing optimism that reconciliation among its factions is possible.
However, he stressed that genuine unity among members must come first before meaningful reconciliation can take place.
Wike said that if party members are sincere about resolving internal disagreements, there is still an opportunity to rebuild and strengthen the party ahead of future political activities.
Reflecting on the party’s recent performance in the FCT Area Council elections, the minister noted that the PDP performed better than many observers had expected.

He pointed out that the party secured 17 council seats and won the important Gwagwalada Area Council during the elections.
According to him, the outcome demonstrates that the party still maintains strong grassroots support within the Federal Capital Territory.
Wike added that further decisions on the party’s direction will likely emerge after its national convention, scheduled for March 29 and 30, 2026.
As Abuja continues to witness rapid infrastructure development, the FCT Administration maintains that ongoing projects will play a key role in improving transportation, strengthening institutions, and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents of the capital city.
