The Executive Chairman of Bwari Area Council, Hon. Joshua Ishaku Musa, has approved 54 appointments to key administrative, advisory, media, and community relations roles, aimed at strengthening governance and service delivery across the council.
The appointments include Supervisory Councillors, Senior Special Advisers, Special Advisers, Personal Assistants, Press and Media personnel, Community Relations officers, and a Legislative and Administrative Liaison Officer.
However, while the council’s press release described the exercise as “53 appointments,” a count of the names listed in the release shows 54 appointees. The release did not explain the discrepancy.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the Chief of Staff, Tukura John Daniel, who said the appointments were part of efforts to build a responsive, inclusive and effective team to drive the administration’s development agenda.
Hon. Musa was declared winner of the February 21, 2026, Bwari Area Council chairmanship election after polling 18,466 votes, and was sworn in on June
The chairman appointed seven Supervisory Councillors to oversee major service areas:

• Zakari Yau — Works, Dutse
• Adamu Shekwonya — Finance, Kubwa
• Musa Makada — Agriculture, Shere

Residents have recently called on the new Bwari leadership to prioritise roads, security, healthcare, agriculture, water supply, sanitation, youth opportunities and transparency. The appointments will be closely watched as residents assess whether the administration can translate its development promises into visible improvements across communities.
Chairman Hon. Joshua Ishaku congratulated the appointees and urged them to regard their new roles as a call to service.
He said they are expected to deploy their experience, energy and commitment towards advancing the administration’s vision and taking Bwari Area Council to greater heights.
