The Action Democratic Party (ADP) has pledged to conduct consensus-based primaries and transparent processes ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party’s National Chairman, Yabagi Sani, made the pledge in a statement on Thursday in Abuja after the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting and INEC verification exercise.
Sani said the NEC meeting marked a significant moment in the party’s journey and Nigeria’s democratic development, describing ADP as disciplined and forward-looking.
He said the party had taken deliberate steps in recent months to reposition itself as a credible platform for national leadership and democratic advancement.
According to him, ADP has strengthened internal structures, expanded membership across states and wards, and begun digitising processes to improve transparency and inclusiveness.
“Our approach is clear and lawful. We will conduct consensus-based primaries and ensure transparent, inclusive processes for all aspirants.
“ADP is strategically preparing for the 2027 polls in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 and INEC guidelines.
“In ADP, unity and discipline remain critical to our success, while party interests must always take precedence over personal ambitions if we are to build a strong and enduring political institution,” he said.
Sani warned members against divisions capable of weakening collective progress.
He disclosed that the NEC meeting would deliberate on updated electoral guidelines, constitutional amendments, convention modalities, and measures to strengthen compliance with INEC regulations.
He said the party would present candidates who are credible, competent and electable, capable of giving Nigerians purposeful leadership at all levels.
He urged the Federal Government to adopt a people-centred economic framework that would promote inclusive growth and reduce hardship facing many Nigerians.
Sani said ADP remained committed to practical solutions through economic reforms, stronger security institutions, transparent governance, accountability and respect for the rule of law.
He added that the party aimed to offer Nigerians a viable alternative to what he described as the recycling of political actors.
Addressing citizens, he urged Nigerians to embrace ADP as a platform built on integrity, competence and national unity.
“History will judge us not by our intentions, but by our actions. Let us rise to the occasion,” he said.
