The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has commended retired Deputy Corps Marshal (DCM) Bisi Kazeem for positively projecting the image of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) for 12 years.
Tunji-Ojo gave the commendation during the 11th valedictory lecture series and Pull out Parade organised in honour of Kazeem, on Wednesday in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Kazeem became part of the Corps on August 7, 1989. He served as the FRSC Spokesman and also as the Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO) for more than 12 years before stepping into the DCM Training role on January 22.
The minister applauded Kazeem for his commitment, hard work, and passion for road safety in Nigeria. He called him a true patriot who dedicated himself fully to serving the nation’s needs.
“Bisi Kazeem is a shining example of what it means to serve with integrity and dedication,” Tunji-Ojo noted. He emphasized that Kazeem’s contributions to the FRSC were significant and that his legacy will stick around for many years ahead.
While chairing the event, Tunji-Ojo highlighted that Kazeem’s impact stretched beyond just public relations. His mentoring & inspiration helped younger officers strive for excellence.
“You’ve opened doors for better participation in the future. That’s a legacy you’ve created. You might feel retired, but trust me, you’re definitely not tired,” he said.
“I’m proud to call him my brother because he has truly excelled. When you see someone who’s your sibling but hasn’t done well, it’s tough — you’d wanna distance yourself. But today? We can stand tall beside you because of all your achievements.”
“Thanks a lot for making the FRSC better than before you arrived. I really thank God we have wonderful officers in FRSC who will carry on from where you leave off.”
“For the FRSC? I honestly believe you’ll have an even bigger role within Nigeria’s internal security structure,” he added. “Road Safety Corps is key to our internal security framework. The nation must fully utilize this.”
FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed also congratulated Kazeem on his impressive career record and great accomplishments serving both the FRSC & Nigeria.
He recognized Kazeem’s steadfast commitment to road safety and described him as a true leader and mentor to many officers in the Corps.
“Kazeem’s dedication & invaluable contributions to FRSC have made their mark on both the organization & our nation,” said Mohammed. “Your efforts toward road safety will always be remembered.”
He expressed hope that Kazeem would take all his experiences from FRSC and continue to make a bigger impact in future endeavors.
Kazeem took a moment to express his gratitude toward both the minister & corps marshal for their kind words while lauding the FRSC for giving him a chance to serve Nigeria.
In a talk about Resilience, Loyalty, & Grace: How I thrived working closely with three Corps Marshals at FRSC, he shared that loyalty is what earned him respect from his leaders.
“I truly enjoyed God’s grace throughout my career,” Kazeem mentioned. He pointed out that success isn’t purely based on talent or luck alone.
He urged those still working in service to stay loyal & committed to their country, to FRSC, & their superiors as it builds strong bonds and honesty within teams.
“I’m thankful for this opportunity to serve both the FRSC & our nation. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together and confident that the FRSC will keep getting stronger.”
“I firmly believe it’s God’s goodwill that keeps pushing me forward & leads me to success thus far.” He stressed that no matter how talented or hardworking one is, they always need some divine favor for real success in life.
“My loyalty toward Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed has indeed been one of my biggest assets.” He cautioned those still in service: “If found disloyal or undermining your superiors? Well, you might not get far.”
“Remember — Karma can be waiting up there as you climb! Your subordinates could undermine you too,” he warned.
Attending the Pull-out Parade were several distinguished guests, like NAN Managing Director Ali Muhammed Ali, NTA Executive Director Adamu Sambo, FCT Commander Mr. Shola Odumosu from Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), along with family and friends.
