The Federal Ministry of Youth Development has announced volunteer opportunities under the YES! Health Nigeria Interministerial Committee, creating openings for young Nigerians interested in public health advocacy, youth engagement, communications and digital media.
The initiative is designed to give selected volunteers practical exposure while supporting the committee’s work in public awareness, programme coordination and online visibility.
According to the recruitment notice, three volunteer positions are currently available. They include Programme Assistant – Office of the Chairman, Communications and Social Media Manager – Content and Public Engagement, and Communications and Social Media Manager – Digital Growth and Visibility.
The roles are expected to attract applicants with interests in administration, communication, social media strategy, public engagement and youth-focused development.
Beyond contributing to the programme, successful volunteers are expected to gain hands-on professional experience in areas connected to youth development and public health.
The recruitment notice states that participants may benefit from exposure to public health advocacy, communications and social media management, as well as opportunities to build professional networks.
Volunteers are also expected to receive an official certificate of service or participation.
Another potential benefit is consideration for future funded opportunities, although the notice does not state that such opportunities are guaranteed.
For young Nigerians seeking experience before entering the job market, structured volunteer programmes can provide practical skills, references and exposure to professional environments.
Youth unemployment and the challenge of gaining relevant work experience remain major concerns for many Nigerians.
Programmes like YES! Health Nigeria can help bridge the gap between education and employment by giving participants opportunities to develop workplace skills, build confidence and gain experience in real projects.
The public health component is also significant, as young people can play an important role in spreading accurate health information and supporting awareness campaigns in their communities.
Applicants should, however, ensure they follow only official application instructions provided by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development or verified YES! Health Nigeria channels.
The volunteer recruitment provides another pathway for young Nigerians who want to build careers in communications, programme management, public engagement and development work while contributing to youth and health-related initiatives.
