The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has initiated a comprehensive capacity-building program for 341 Unit and Outpost Commanders.
The programme focuses on traffic enforcement and management, road safety education and advocacy, data analysis and research, leadership and management development, and digital literacy and technology adoption.
A statement by the Corps’ Public Education Officer, Mr. Olusegun Ogungbemide, on Thursday in Abuja, said training was currently underway at the FRSC Academy in Udi, Enugu State.
Ogungbemide said the training was part of a series of leadership development programmes introduced by the current leadership of the Corps.
He quoted FRSC Corps Marshal, Malam Shehu Mohammed, who declared the training open and reiterated that the unit and outpost commands were an integral part of the corps and played a key role in enforcing traffic rules and regulations.
Mohammed explained that the Corps considers them invaluable assets and is committed to creating an enabling environment that fosters growth, innovation and excellence.
Mohammed, who was represented by the Deputy Corps Marshal (ACM) in charge of the Operations Department, Mr. Hyginus Omeje, added that they had also contributed immensely to moving the corps forward.
“The training programme is aimed at equipping the employees with the latest skills, knowledge and best practices in road safety management.
“The training includes a combination of theoretical and practical sessions, workshops and mentoring, led by in-house and international experts.
The Corps Marshal urged the commanders to use technological innovations such as the FRSC mobile application and the National Accident Information Recording System portal to enhance their work.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Corps has just completed operational training of the Corps’ Roads Officers at one of the Corps’ training institutes in Shendam, Plateau State.
