    Nababa salutes retired DCG Akinrujomu’s exceptional leadership

    The Controller General, Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) Haliru Nababa has commended a retired Deputy Controller General (DCG) Tosin Akinrujomu for his outstanding character, dedication, and commitment to duty.

    Nababa said this during a valedictory session and dinner organised to honour the outgoing DCG Akinrujomu on Thursday in Abuja.

    The NCoS CG, who was represented by DCG Sylvester Nwakuche, in charge of training and staff development praised Akinrujomu’s leadership qualities, citing his ability to inspire and motivate others.

    He described Akinrujomu as a shining example of excellence, with a calm demeanor and fearless attitude.

    He said that the retired DCG detested failure and injustice adding that he was always ready to defend and support his colleagues.

    “Akinrujomu’s exceptional leadership is a beacon of hope for upcoming generations. His dedication to duty and passion for justice are traits worthy of emulation.

    “He is a calm guy, but looks boisterous physically. He has a good heart and he is a fearless man. He is somebody who is very dutiful and does not shy away from his responsibilities.

    “As you bow out of service after this meritorious and illustrious service to the nation, always know that life never stops and retirement is just the beginning of a new phase in life.

    “Embrace it with joy and may peace and happiness come along for the ride too, “he said.

    Nababa advised aspiring leaders to emulate Akinrujomu’s virtues, emphasising the importance of hard work, faith, and positive energy.

    “To achieve success, one must remain focused, enlarge their capacity, and trust in God’s plan.

    “Akinrujomu’s exemplary leadership has earned him recognition and respect within the corrections service and beyond, young ones should emulate that,”he maintained.

    In his farewell message, Akinrujomu emphasised the importance of hard work and resilience as key factors in achieving success.

    The retired DCG, who doubled as Akogun of Omuo Ekiti Kingdom, shared his Inspiring story of dedication and leadership adding that commitment to service and community helped him in all his endeavours.

    According to him, as a seasoned member of the service and key decision-maker, I did my best to ensure the service moved forward, and I’m happy about the progress we’ve made.

    “My achievements were also due to collaboration with my junior colleagues. We combined our experiences and it has helped us achieve substantive improvements in the service.

    “My message to the young ones is that they should be loyal, by demonstrating commitment to the service and community, be dedicated and strive for excellence in all you do.

    “Uphold integrity and transparency, be pushy and resilient. Tomorrow will be better than today if you stay focused, work hard, and remain dedicated,” he emphasised.

    Highpoints of the event were goodwill messages from invited guests and family members, cutting of the birthday and retirement cake, presentation of gifts items and group photographs among others.

    The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the retired DCG Akinrujomu was born on October 10, 1964 in Ondo West, Ondo City, in Ondo State.

    Akinrujomu joined the service on April 30, 1990 as an Assistant Superintendent of Prisons (ASP) and through dint of hard work and tenacity, he rose through the ranks to become a DCG in 2023

    He was retained in the same directorate, a position he held until retirement.
