The Director General of the Committee of Youth Mobilization and Sensitisation (CYMS), Chief Obinna Nwaka, reiterates the organization’s commitment to supporting the EFCC’s efforts to combat corruption in Nigeria.
Nwaka made this commitment when he took his team on a courtesy call to the EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede in Abuja on Friday.
He said the meeting was aimed at educating Nigerian youths against vote buying, cyber crimes, and other forms of systemic corruption that harm the integrity of the nation.
He further said that the meeting is part of efforts to cleanse the society and rid it of crime and other associated vices.
He emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration between the two organizations, while also highlighting the need to address fundamental issues consistent with the visions and mandates of both agencies.
Nwaka described the EFCC as the only commission that can verify leaders and politicians.
“We recognize that the EFCC cannot fight corruption alone and we are committed to contributing to the fight against corruption, especially cyber crimes, vote buying, and others.
“We want to work with the Commission to ensure that our beloved country is completely free from corruption.
“They have a very good initiative and reforms. One of them is the way our Naira has been gaining strength. This naira is the new national anthem.
“We want to tell them that we are not alone in the brotherhood, but against corruption and all other related crimes that must be stopped.
“We want to thank you for securing the future of Nigeria’s youth and even the future of our unborn children and generations to come.
“We want to ask you to take the anti-vote buying campaign seriously so we can check the scourge.”
DG CYMS commended the Commission for its fair judgments and added that CYMS benefited from the delivery of good service.
Nwaka assured the CYMS commission of continued support, including at the grassroots level, assuring that the organization is committed to working with the EFCC to ensure that the commission delivers on its mandate.
In his response, Olukoyede led the organization out of his interest in supporting the Commission’s efforts to lead the country away from corruption.
Olukoyede reiterated the Commission’s commitment to work with CYMS to meet its specific mandates and contributions to the Federal Government’s strategic plan to move Nigeria forward.
“Thank you for everything you are doing for Nigeria, especially in the area of raising awareness among the youth. What we are doing at EFCC is the mandate to have a better Nigeria.
“We will work together even more. We will not give up on the good work. Therefore, it is important to provide cooperation and support for this mandate.
“We also want Nigerians to support us and not allow our youth to be derailed. Cybercrime has no future,” he said.
