The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has concluded preparations for the commissioning of more than 30 major infrastructure projects across Abuja and its satellite communities, according to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday after inspecting several completed projects, Wike expressed satisfaction with the quality and readiness of the developments scheduled for inauguration as part of activities marking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s third anniversary in office.
The minister said all projects inspected had reached full completion and were ready for public use, describing the development as evidence of the administration’s commitment to delivering impactful infrastructure across the Federal Capital Territory.
“From what we have seen, we are set to go. The projects inspected are fully completed, and I am pleased with the quality of work delivered,” Wike said.
The inspection tour covered several strategic projects, including the Gwarinpa-Jahi Interchange, the Airport-Kuje Road, the Kuje-Gwagwalada Road, the Outer Southern Expressway main carriageways and the upgraded Abuja City Gate.

According to the minister, the projects are expected to improve transportation, enhance connectivity, reduce travel time and support economic activities within the nation’s capital.
One of the landmark projects slated for inauguration is the redesigned Abuja City Gate, a major entry point into the Federal Capital Territory.
Wike noted that the commissioning ceremony for the upgraded facility may take place in the evening to allow residents and visitors to fully appreciate its enhanced aesthetics and lighting features.
He described the project as part of ongoing efforts to improve the visual appeal and identity of Abuja as a modern capital city.
“The transformation of the City Gate is remarkable. We believe its beauty will be best appreciated at night, and residents will see a different and more welcoming image of the capital,” he said.
The minister also invited media organizations to participate in the commissioning activities, emphasizing the importance of showcasing ongoing development efforts to a wider audience.
Beyond completed projects, Wike disclosed that the administration plans to flag off additional infrastructure initiatives during the commissioning period.
He explained that while two new projects were initially proposed for groundbreaking ceremonies, the number has now increased to at least four.
According to him, the Presidency will determine which projects President Tinubu will personally commission, while other senior government officials may inaugurate additional projects across the territory.
“The list of completed projects is extensive, and it may not be possible for one individual to commission all of them. As has been done previously, other government officials may participate in the exercise,” he said.
The minister also highlighted ongoing investments in public infrastructure, including newly constructed police stations across the six Area Councils and renovation projects in schools throughout the FCT.
He said the administration is considering assigning Mandate Secretaries and other officials to commission some of these facilities because of the large number of completed projects awaiting inauguration.
According to Wike, investments in roads, education, security and public services remain central to the administration’s efforts to improve living standards and support sustainable development across urban and rural communities.
Addressing questions on political developments in Rivers State, Wike urged stakeholders to await official announcements from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding party candidates before making conclusions about ongoing political processes.
He emphasized the importance of allowing electoral procedures to run their course and avoiding speculation.
The minister also expressed concern over recent security incidents involving citizens in different parts of the country, stressing that every case affecting public safety deserves attention and appropriate response.
The planned commissioning exercise is expected to showcase major investments in transportation, urban renewal and public infrastructure across the Federal Capital Territory.
Officials say the projects are designed to improve mobility, attract investment, create economic opportunities and enhance the quality of life for residents.
With preparations now completed, the FCTA says the commissioning programme will highlight the administration’s efforts to expand infrastructure and strengthen service delivery across Abuja and surrounding communities.
