Residents of Yangoji community in Kwali Area Council turned out in large numbers on Monday to welcome Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike during an inspection of the nearly completed Yangoji-Gomani Road project.

The enthusiastic reception highlighted growing appreciation for ongoing infrastructure development in rural communities across the Federal Capital Territory, where residents say government projects are beginning to improve daily life and economic opportunities.

Speaking to journalists after inspecting road projects in Yangoji and Gbazango in Bwari Area Council, Wike said the response from residents reflected the positive impact of government investments in previously underserved communities.

According to the minister, many rural residents had waited for years to experience meaningful government intervention and were now witnessing visible improvements through road construction and other infrastructure projects.

“The people are happy because they can see the impact of government in their communities,” Wike said. “For many years, they heard about government programs but did not feel their benefits directly. Today, they can see roads, improved access and real development.”

The minister noted that residents were not informed in advance about his visit, adding that the spontaneous turnout demonstrated their appreciation for the changes taking place in the area.

He said the administration remains committed to improving the lives of rural dwellers through strategic investments in transportation, infrastructure and community development.

“Our goal is to continue bringing development closer to the people and ensuring that every community benefits from the dividends of democracy,” Wike stated.

The minister inspected the road project linking the Abuja-Lokoja Expressway to Dafa, Yangoji and Gomani communities. The project, being executed by construction company Zeberced, is designed to improve connectivity, ease transportation challenges and support local economic activities.

According to Wike, the project is nearing completion, with only a few drainage works and streetlight installations remaining before final delivery.

He commended the contractor for maintaining quality standards and meeting project timelines.

“Zeberced has done an excellent job. The company has remained committed to the agreed schedule and delivered quality work. We appreciate their professionalism and dedication,” he said.

Earlier in the day, the minister also inspected the Gbazango Road project in Kubwa, which is being handled by the same contractor. He expressed satisfaction with the level of progress achieved and noted that several infrastructure projects across the FCT are on track for commissioning as part of activities marking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s third anniversary in office.

Wike emphasized that road infrastructure remains a critical component of the administration’s development strategy because it improves mobility, supports economic growth and enhances access to essential services.

Addressing political developments during the inspection tour, the minister reiterated his views on recent opposition coalition efforts, describing them as alliances driven by personal political interests rather than shared policy objectives.

He argued that internal disagreements within the coalition have weakened its ability to present a united alternative ahead of future elections.

The minister maintained that governance should remain focused on delivering projects and improving citizens’ welfare, stressing that infrastructure development and public service delivery remain the administration’s priority.

Residents of Dafa and Yangoji lined up the street to receive the FCT Minister Barr Nyesom Wike during his inspection of the completed and ready to be commissioned Gomani/Yangoji road in Kwali area council

Residents in Yangoji and surrounding communities have welcomed the road project, saying improved transportation links are expected to boost trade, reduce travel times and strengthen access to schools, healthcare facilities and markets.
